I painted this painting in response to the poem in the previous post; Timefulness.
In this painting, I was working through ideas about “timelessness” and beauty, in contrast to the universal and yet largely-unremarked ability of a female body to be “timeful” -- not only living in time, not only measuring it with our bodies’ cycles, but actually creating it in the sense of growing new lives within it. Passing time on to the next generation, as we have been given it by past generations. The figure as an hourglass.
